STATISTICS FOR THE RIVIERA MAYA

The Riviera Maya is one of the most important tourist destinations in the world, with economic growth of 9.5% per year, and first in the generation of employment in Mexico.

It has a population of 167 thousand inhabitants living in an area of 4.245 square kilometers, distributed mainly in two towns, Playa del Carmen and Tulum.

It is a magnet for international and national migration.Twelve percent of the population was born abroad and the rest of the residents are originally from Tabasco, Yucatán, Veracruz, Chiapas, Distrito Federal, Estado de Mexico, Campeche, Guanajuato, Nuevo Leon and Oaxaca in particular.
